How it works

Internships
Mentors host interns Monday through Friday for seven weeks in July and August each summer. Interns work 30 hours a week, most of which are spent participating in a wide range of tasks and activities related to the functioning of a creative design office, including:

In addition to work-related responsibilities, interns are expected to complete a personal project, such as a resume or Web page, that demonstrates their design proficiency and incorporates ideas and advice from their mentors.

Professional Development Workshops
Interns also spend three hours per week at professional development events where they interact with one another as a group while gaining broad exposure to the design profession. These sessions include presentations at mentoring design firms, design-related field trips, meetings with design students from area colleges, sketching tours, and creative workshops.

Students also collaborate on special projects, proposed by the group. Past projects have focused on everything from ad campaigns to apparel design and product development.
