We believe that through the pursuit of design, Youth Designers will thrive on the job, in the classroom, and in the world. Through our creative mix of out-of-school time workshops, technical training, cultural learning opportunities, and immersive professional workplace experiences, Youth Design’s curriculum is committed to developing the “whole student,” resulting in increases in critical thinking skills, problem-solving techniques, confidence, and self-reliance—all necessary for urban youth to achieve economic self-sufficiency.

We achieve long-lasting change and impact with our Youth Designers through our focus on whole-life learning that has reach far beyond the realm of design, and holistically prepares our students to perform well in the 21st century workforce:
- Life Skills & Workforce Readiness
- Paid Summer Jobs in the Professional Design Industry
- Mentorships with World-Class Designers
- School-Year Workshops in Design Education, Design Skills Training, & Cultural Experiences
- College Preparedness, Financial Literacy, & Application Support
A core aspect of Youth Design’s methodology focuses on youth development through both individual and group projects and experiences. Youth Design combines leadership and team-building skills, collaborative learning, and exposure to multiple dimensions of cultural and creative economy experiences that compliment the design training curriculum, provide context, and illuminate the relationships among success, citizenship, and the world around them.
